Project Summary

DLG SHAPE was engaged by the Department of Defence under the Estate Works Program to deliver the refurbishment of the Headquarters Building at RAAF Base Darwin. The project is part of a broader programme of medium works investment across the Darwin base, which serves as one of Australia’s most strategically significant forward-operating air bases and a key node in the ADF’s northern network.

The refurbishment addresses condition, compliance and functionality deficiencies across the headquarters building. Works were delivered within an active, secure base environment with strict access control and sequencing requirements. Scope included internal refurbishment across office, meeting and support areas, upgrades to mechanical, electrical and hydraulic building services, fire services, and architectural finishes throughout.

The HQ Building Refurbishment contributes to the wider programme of infrastructure renewal underway at RAAF Base Darwin, supporting the base’s growing role in Australia’s northern defence posture and its capacity to sustain joint and allied operations.
