Project Summary

Project Phase: Under Construction

The Department of Defence engaged DLG SHAPE to deliver minor construction works at the Nowra Hill radar sensor site near HMAS Albatross in Nowra, New South Wales. The project forms part of the AIR5431 air traffic management and control capability upgrade programme, supporting improved safety and operational efficiency across multiple Australian Defence Force locations.

Works at the remote, security-restricted site are focused on maintaining and improving the physical infrastructure that supports the radar installation and its associated systems. The scope includes building fabric refurbishment and maintenance works, upgrades to mechanical, electrical and hydraulic services, and civil and external works within the sensor site precinct.

Delivered under a lump sum model, the project requires careful planning and close coordination with the Department of Defence and Aurecon to align with programme requirements and operational priorities. DLG SHAPE’s delivery approach has been tailored to suit a live Defence environment, where reliability, access and continuity are critical.

By improving the condition and capability of the supporting infrastructure, the Nowra Hill works will contribute to the broader modernisation of air traffic management infrastructure across the Navy’s aviation network and help support ongoing operational reliability at this important sensor site.
