Project Summary

As part of a national rollout of Department of Social Services (DSS) projects, DLG SHAPE was engaged to deliver a full floor refit of its new office premise in Hobart.

Located on 99 Bathurst Street, the unoccupied space required a fitout from design to completion in just 5 weeks. Working under a Managing Contractor arrangement gave the project team the ability to mobilise and commence works early, allowing them to smoothly transition to the construction phase and successfully deliver the project on time and within budget. It also allowed DLG SHAPE to manage long lead times by identifying items early on that needed to be approved and ordered as a priority. Using trusted subcontractors, the team were able to meet tight deadlines, such as delivering a finished Comms room with SCEC walls just two weeks into the project.

Working with the designers, client, and security consultants, DLG SHAPE incorporated the government agency’s design standards and security requirements which included a mix of collaboration spaces, open workstations, meeting rooms, a conference room, kitchen area, as well as SCEC walls and new ceilings to 80 per cent of the space. The modern and welcome workplace was all tied together with a fresh and vibrant colour palette and textures inspired by the Tasmanian landscape.
