Project Summary

Stantec were consolidating their Melbourne offices to a central CBD location and engaged DLG SHAPE for Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and Construction Management (CM) of their four-level fitout. As the third project nationally for Stantec, the team worked with CBRE under a CM model which ensured the project ran smoothly.

A key innovation of the project was the construction of a prototype room; a 10-person meeting room was built before the main works commenced. This allowed the team to complete acoustic and AV testing, and following this testing, update the design to better suit Stantec’s requirements.

The project features a combination of standard workstations, focus and meeting rooms, open-plan collaborative spaces, a staff town hall featuring prep and butlers kitchens, quiet zones and touchdown desks across all floors. A large amount of high-quality bespoke joinery, including lockers and tambours with built-in planter boxes, elevated the fitout.

One project challenge included the redesign of operable walls for multi-purpose meeting rooms; a high acoustic rating was required and existing services were not accounted for during design. The team coordinated during the shop drawings phase to redesign major structural elements.

By working flexibly as a team, integrating with key stakeholders and adding value during the ECI phase, DLG SHAPE provided early access for Stantec’s IT team prior to project completion and an overall enjoyable and successful project for everyone.
