Following the successful delivery of the Mobile ADF Careers Centre Bus (MACC) in 2023, the Australian Defence Force (ADF), in collaboration with Adecco Group, sought a longer-term, relocatable solution to assist with recruitment efforts in regional areas. This led to the development of the Portable ADF Careers Centre (PACC), a semi-permanent recruitment hub that can be set up in each location for up to three months, compared to the MACC’s short-term deployment of just a few days.
DLG SHAPE determined that modular construction would be the ideal approach to meet the client’s needs for flexibility, mobility, and efficiency. The project unfolded in two key phases: design and procurement, followed by a fast-tracked four-week construction period. The initial design was conceptualised by Nguluway DesignInc and then adapted by SHAPE’s modular construction team to meet the specific operational and logistical requirements of the client.
Modular construction proved to be the perfect fit for this project, allowing for rapid assembly and easy transportation between locations. The PACC consists of two purpose-built modular units, designed and manufactured at SHAPE’s modular facility in Adelaide, ensuring high standards of quality and precision. The modules were then carefully loaded onto our trucks and transported to their first stop in Geelong, Victoria where they were greeted with a Welcome to Country ceremony.
The result is a highly adaptable, bespoke space that can be quickly set up with minimal site work, providing a valuable recruitment tool in regional areas.
Each module is tailored to meet ADF’s exact specifications, featuring a high-spec interior that offers a professional, flexible environment for recruitment activities. The modular design not only ensures ease of relocation but also aligns with the client’s budgetary and transportability needs, making the PACC a powerful asset for ongoing recruitment initiatives.
